Each job in Imports and jobs has a page of its own. There you read where the job stands, cancel or resume it, and learn from its failure reason what to do next. The jobs list is explained in Imports and jobs.
Open one job #
Open Administration → Imports and jobs, then select a job in the table. Its page shows the Job id with Copy job id, the Stage (Last step once the job has ended), Created, Finished, Progress, Resource and, for a failure, What happened in a sentence.
A job that is waiting shows What it is waiting for: Jira’s rate limit, a cleanup that is behind, a setup step, or the license answer. A run started after another shows Started again after with that job’s kind, state and time.
Cancel, resume or import again #
- Cancel the job asks a question first.
- Resume the job continues a paused job after its last kept step. Some paused work waits for the person who started it to resume it, and the app checks their rights again first. While the license does not include the work, Resume the job is held, and its reason says why, for example “This site’s current edition does not include this work.”
- Import again starts a new run of a board whose latest import or reindex failed or was canceled. It reads the whole source again.
The dialog “Cancel this job?” says that canceling is requested, not instant. The job stops at its next checkpoint, or finishes if it has already updated the board. It undoes no Jira request that was already sent. Select Cancel the job to confirm, or Keep it running.
If the job changed while the page was open, a notice reads “The job moved” with Reload. Select it to read the job again, then repeat the action if it still applies.
There is no pause here. A job pauses only for something outside it: authorization, the license or the budget. The (i) “What lifts the pause” beside a paused state says what ends the pause, for example “Resume its schedule once access is back.”
Why a job failed #
A failed job names its reason in Progress and explains it in What happened.
| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Source too large | Narrow the board’s source under Configure → Source & scope; the save reads it again |
| Storage limit reached | Choose a shorter history window, delete saved results you no longer need, or delete a board (Data retention and deletion) |
| Interrupted | Nothing: the app retries it by itself |
| Interrupted too often | An import, a reindex or a reconcile starts again by itself after a wait; start any other job again yourself |
| Jira paging unstable | Jira’s results kept moving while they were read; select Import again |
| Swimlane rule refused | Correct the rule under Configure → Layout & cards; the save recalculates the board |
| Reindex refused | Save a change to the board’s source, flow or calendar; the save reads the whole source again |
| Replaced or Replaced after a save | Nothing: another run took its place |
| Configuration gone, Board deleted or Portfolio deleted | Nothing: what the job worked on no longer exists |
| Failed its own check | Nothing is lost: nothing was published and the board keeps its last result. Select Import again; if it fails the same way, contact support through Get Help |
| Too large to update | Nothing: a full import replaces the job |
| Storage kept refusing | What happened names the way back for the job’s kind; for an import, select Import again |
| Rules not evaluated | Nothing: the next scheduled pass evaluates the board’s rules |
| Inputs gone | The stored inputs are no longer there; start the work again |
| Already produced | Nothing: another run produced the result |
A failed forecast, backtest, scenario, ranking, export or deletion says in What happened what to do, most often to run it again. A failed chart calculation reads “Calculation failed” and says only that there is no result.
For example, the import of Checkout fails with Source too large. Dana narrows the board’s source to fewer spaces and saves it. The save starts a new run, which reads the whole source again.
If something looks off #
- “The job was not resumed”: the sentence under it says which check failed, for example “Only the person who started this job can resume it.” The job stays paused. Cancel it, then start the work again where it was started (its board, its portfolio or its rollout).
- “Job not found”: the job does not exist, finished more than two days ago, or is not yours to see.
- “This board’s runs kept being interrupted, so the app waits”: the app starts a new run by itself at the time named.
- “Job held”: Jira’s rate limit holds the job’s reads. It continues by itself after the time named.
Who can open it #
Only a Jira administrator can open Administration.
