Pricing and Licensing

3 min read

Advanced Boards comes in two editions, Standard and Advanced, sold through the Atlassian Marketplace. Each edition unlocks its own features, the price follows the number of users on your Jira site, and part of the app stays available without an active license.

What it costs #

i
Sites of 10 users or fewer are free. Not a trial and not a cut-down build — the edition you choose, whole, at no cost, for as long as the site stays that size.

Above ten users you pay per user, per month, and the rate falls as the site grows. Billing follows the user count of your Jira site rather than the number of people who open the app, and where one site carries several Jira products Atlassian bills at the highest user tier.

Prices are in USD for a single Cloud site, billed monthly. Annual subscriptions are discounted. Multi-instance is one subscription covering more than one Jira site; it is arranged with us rather than bought from the listing, so ask us for a quote.

The Marketplace listing is the authoritative source for prices. The tables above are reproduced here for convenience and may lag a change. Confirm on the Pricing tab of the listing before budgeting or quoting.

The two editions #

Edition What it unlocks
Standard Boards and their Work, Backlog and Plan; WIP policies and limits; changing work items in Jira from the app; Analyze and its flow metrics; forecasts you run; current risk signals; stakeholder views, Reports and exports; the four dashboard gadgets, the work item panel and the space page; Administration
Advanced Everything in Standard, plus portfolios and value streams, forecast schedules, calibration, scenarios, risk rules and alerts (with the site’s risk automation setting), policy experiments, AI investigation, templates with rollout and governance, and priority support

Priority support changes nothing in the app. The support bundle names the edition and the support tier, so the vendor’s portal can send a request from an Advanced site to its priority queue (Support and diagnostics).

The edition lozenge beside the product name in the app’s navigation shows which edition runs. On Standard, an empty Advanced screen shows “This is part of the Advanced edition”, what the feature does, and the button About the Advanced edition. The full list is on Standard and Advanced editions.

How the license is read #

The app reads the edition and its state from your Atlassian license, and refreshes it within an hour. Administration shows it on the License and editions card (Administration overview and license):

  • “Standard · Active” or “Advanced · Active”;
  • “Standard · Trial” or “Advanced · Trial” during an evaluation;
  • “Inactive” when the license has ended;
  • “Waiting for Atlassian to confirm this site’s license” while no answer has come.

Until Atlassian answers, the app holds back paid work rather than guess which edition runs.

When the license is inactive #

Paid actions are refused while the license is inactive. Nothing you had saved is changed or deleted, and three things stay available:

  • Read retained results: results the app already keeps stay readable until their retention period ends.
  • Export your data: kept data can still be exported. Figures computed on demand, such as a fresh Analyze chart, need an active license. A configuration backup is not kept data: downloading one needs an active license too (Configuration backup and restore).
  • Delete app data: an administrator can still delete the app’s data for the site; only the counters of AI spend and one record of the deletion are kept (Data retention and deletion).

None of the four dashboard gadgets answers while the license is inactive. Renew the license in Manage apps to go on.

Moving from Advanced to Standard #

Your Standard boards and settings stay as they are. Results made under Advanced stay readable until their retention period ends. Each carries the lozenge “Retained result: produced under the Advanced edition”. New work of an Advanced feature is refused with “This is part of the Advanced edition”: for example, no new AI investigation starts. A running job of an Advanced feature pauses as “Paused: license”. Once the license includes that work again, some jobs go on by themselves and others wait until someone resumes them.

The site’s governance rules keep binding their boards on Standard. An administrator can lower a level or take boards out of the scope, but stricter rules need the Advanced edition (Governance).

Changing the edition #

The edition and the evaluation are offered on the app’s Marketplace listing. Once Atlassian’s license changes, the app reads the new edition within an hour.
